Posted February 05, 2018 08:21:37 The Idaho Woodcarpets Guild (IDGW) is hosting its 18th annual Woodcarving Supply Auction, which will take place March 13-15, 2018, at the Glenbrook Hotel, 16700 N. Washington Blvd., Woodcarverville, Idaho.
The auction is the fourth annual Woodcatering Supply Sale, and will raise funds for the Idaho Wood Carving Guild.
IDGW Executive Director, Joe St. Martin, said the wood carvers guild was excited to host the auction, and that they hope it will help raise awareness for the hobby and the Woodcaring community.
“We are always looking for new and exciting opportunities to help our members make a difference,” he said.
“This will be the first of its kind, and we are grateful to be able to bring this event to the community.”
The auction will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday, March 13, 2018.
A variety of vendors will participate, including auctioneers from around the state, including the Idaho Forest Service, the Idaho Forestry Commission, the U.S. Forest Service and the Idaho Department of Natural Resources (IDNR).
“We will be bringing the most beautiful and unique wood carving products we can,” St. Michael said.
In addition to the woodcarves and accessories that will be on sale, the vendors will have an opportunity to give presentations about their woodcarver skills.
“The more information we have, the more people are going to start to know more about the hobby,” he added.
The Idaho Guild of Woodcarpenters (IGW) is a nonprofit organization that operates a large, woodcarved woodworking workshop at the Lake Tahoe Convention Center.
The IGW has worked closely with the Idaho State Forest Service for years to help forest stewards protect timber from forest fires.
IDW is the only member of the Woodcarves Guild in Idaho, and its membership is limited to two members per year.
“Woodcarving is a wonderful and creative craft,” said IGW President and CEO, Greg Jones.
The event will also feature a special guest speaker from the Idaho Fire Department, along with the annual Idaho Wood and Wood Products Trade Show, which is the premier trade show for woodworking, cabinetry, woodworking equipment, home furnishings and woodworking accessories in the state. “
IDGW is proud to be part of this historic event, and thank you to the entire IDGW staff, the Wood Carvers Guild, and the sponsors for this year’s event.”
