New woodcarving shop opens in Adelaide August 25, 2021 August 25, 2021 admin

Posted April 24, 2018 06:53:33Woodcarvers in Adelaide are busy creating their very own wooden sculptures from scratch.

Tiger Woods is one of the most popular and successful artists in the world, but it’s his own woodcarver workshop that has been his passion for the last two decades.

Now the Tiger Woods Woodcarving and Woodturning workshop has opened up in Adelaide, with plans to open an all-new workshop at the end of 2019.

Owner, Chris Hensley, said the workshop was born out of his love of the art form and the passion of the community.

“It started as a hobby,” he said.

“I started doing woodturning for fun and then when I got a bit older and got into woodcarved, it kind of fell into place for me.”

Tiger’s wood carving was a major factor in the creation of the workshop, with the artist saying his own carving technique was the most important ingredient.

“We’ve been lucky to get to know so many talented people over the years and I think that really shows in the quality of their work,” he explained.

“They’re a lot of fun to be around and they’re really talented, but also they’re not as predictable as other woodworkers.”

“We’re really excited to be opening up a shop here in Adelaide,” he continued.

“The opportunity to create our own workshop is a fantastic one for the community and we can’t wait to start carving again.”

Tigers Woodcarvers and Woodcarved is one-stop shop for woodcarves, woodturnings and woodworkers in Adelaide.

Mr Hensleys apprentice, Matt Wilson, said it was important for people to see what woodcarve artists can do.

“To get a good appreciation of the craft is really important,” he noted.

“You can’t do this job if you don’t know how to do it.”

What we do is teach people how to carve and how to work with wood and how it’s going to look and feel, so that’s why we’re open to all different kinds of woodcarvings and how they can be used.””

Woodcarving is so hard work and if you want to be an artist you have to learn how to craft,” he added.

Tigers Woods Wood Carving and Witherings Woodturns is open from 7am to 9pm Monday to Friday.
